Vantaa Energia’s waste-to-energy plant

The architecture of Vantaa Energia’s waste-to-energy plant was inspired by the Star Wars movie. Built using the latest technology, the plant meets strict environmental regulations. The introduction of the waste-to-energy plant will decrease the use of fossil fuels for heat and electricity production by 30 per cent, and carbon dioxide emissions by 20 per cent in Vantaa. Each day, up to 180 refuse trucks collect mixed waste that would otherwise end up in landfill from households in the capital region and elsewhere in Uusimaa to be incinerated at the plant.  The plant produces some 920 gigawatt-hours of heat and 600 GWh of electricity per year.

Paroc provided a total of 14 km of industrial pipe insulation and 42,000 m² of wired mat to Vantaa Energia’s waste-to-energy plant. In addition, a total of 5,000 m² of insulation slabs and other insulation materials were supplied to the plant. A total of 2,600 m² of PAROC panels were installed on the exterior walls of the administrative building.
