Combined Heat and Power plant Haapaniemi 3, owned by Kuopion Energia, has a power boiler (149 MWth) which utilises circulating fluidised bed (CFB) technology and burns peat and forest residues. Since January 2012 the plant has produced district heat for the city of Kuopio and electricity to the national grid.
The multi-fuel fired power boiler and process pipelines at the Haapaniemi 3 plant are insulated with PAROC Pro stone wool products.
