When the real estate and construction company Einar Mattsson was planning the total renovation of around 90 apartments built in the 1950s around a cul-de-sac in the Stockholm suburb of Bagarmossen, they decided to implement a new approach and create a concept that could be used for several years to come. The company owns more than 5,000 rental apartments and the Landsfogden estate was the first in a series of renovations that the company needed to carry out in their own property portfolio in the future.
With the installation of ventilation heat exchangers (FTX), window replacements and additional insulation with innovative touches, the estate was completely renovated. The façade received additional insulation in the form of with mineral wool from Paroc in cooperation with Smartfront, where the new supply air ducts, connected to an FTX unit attached to the attic beams, were installed on the outside of the dwelling, in the inner insulation layer. The cost for heating the buildings decreased by 80% after the renovation.
