A renovated façade with additional insulation, along with the upgrade of windows to modern triple glazed panes and the installation of solar cells, resulted in substantial energy savings. When municipal properties in Lagersberg, Eskilstuna were due for refurbishment, the choice was made to use the Smartfront solution. One of the reasons was that the installation would cause less disruption to the residents during the renovation, but the primary reason was energy savings. After the renovation, energy consumption has fallen by 63%.
