PAROC Hvac AirCoat saves energy for the Nordic Swan ecolabelled tenant-owners’ association Brf Bryggan in Kungsbacka
Bryggan is the third estate in the Kolla Parkstad area. The area is a modern idyll where apartment buildings and townhouses, semi-detached and detached houses sit side by side. Liljewall Architects are responsible for the design and they have chosen to work entirely in wood, and with classic colours as red ochre, light grey and white. Brf Bryggan has been built completely in compliance with the Nordic Swan ecolabel, which places stringent demands on the construction process. Everything from the choice of materials and energy consumption during the construction work, to the indoor environment of the finished home. The reward is a healthy, well ventilated and quiet indoor environment in well-insulated windows, employing energy-saving appliances and installations.
It is important for even the technical installations such as ventilation ducts to be well-insulated, in order to save energy and reduce the house’s environmental footprint. PAROC HVAC AirCoat is a fire safety approved comprehensive solution for the insulation of circular ventilation ducts. Installation is straightforward and can be carried out in one go, with minimal wastage.
Quick and easy installation of ventilation ducts
Katja Ekstrom is a partner in the insulation firm Viisol, which has been assigned to insulate the ventilation ducts in the four apartment buildings. The company chose to use PAROC Hvac AirCoat for Bryggan, largely for the time saving aspect, as the product provides a unique, comprehensive solution in a single product, instead of using two different layers.
"AirCoat provides both condensation insulation and EI30 fire approval in the same product. The alternative would have been a traditional wired mat for fire insulation and lamella mat for condensation insulation," explains Katja. "The installation has worked well. It is very efficient and the fitters see the product in a favourable light."
Maciej Dziechciar, who is team leader at Viisol, has himself been involved in the fitting work at Brf Bryggan. He holds a similar view regarding the benefits of the product:
"There are fewer operating steps to take, because you don't have to cut bends. Installation is easier and produces less rubbish and hardly any waste, and there’s no dust either. The product is also much faster to install."
"We will definitely use PAROC Hvac AirCoat in the future," says Katja. "The installation is a very efficient process, which is positive both for us and for our customers".
Paroc Hvac AirCoat was launched in 2016, and has aroused great interest in the market.
Rune Hagensen, a product manager responsible for building systems and processes in Scandinavia, provides four strong arguments for using the product:
- A good overall solution for circular ventilation ducts – insulation for straight ducts, tees, elbows at 45° and 90°, and installation accessories.
- Combined fire and condensation insulation, for example, saves space.
- Quick, neat and simple installation compared to traditional metal mesh blankets.
- Minimal wastage.
Rune thinks that AirCoat, with its comprehensive solution, is unique. The product has been produced and adapted for thermal, sound, condensation and fire insulation. AirCoat is also approved for the exterior insulation of ventilation ducts, with a fire classification of E130.
"Ventilation is one of the most important systems in a building, and there is a great deal of interest out in the market!"
