The shape of the framework generally governs the building design. Optimise your structures with PAROC panels. Their superior strength allows you to, among solutions, use the maximum spans. PAROC panels are usually applied as single-span structures but multi-span applications are also possible. The span design of PAROC panel structures is based on the EN 14509 standard.
When dimensioning PAROC panels, take into account cut-outs for doors, windows, pipe penetrations and other openings. These may weaken the panel strength. In fire-rated walls spans can also be limited.
Dimension the spans using the dimensioning curves presented in the Technical Guide. Define the loads as follows:
Define the actual wind loads. National regulations set requirements that you should take into account when designing. These include load factors, pressure coefficients and partial coefficients for load.
Define the actual loads. National regulations set requirements that you should take into account when designing. These include load factors, pressure coefficients and partial coefficients for load. Ensure that the design load is least 0.5 kN/m2, because partitions are often subject to the highest load during the construction phase when the panels are moved and handled on site.
In multi-span structures, the load causes both shear force and bending moment on the panels at intermediate supports. In addition, the temperature gradient throughout the panel causes a bending moment. Therefore the span widths are limited in these structures. Dimension support widths and the number of fixings case by case.
Ceilings are divided in two types: non-walk-on and walk-on.
- Dimension non-walk-on ceilings for the panel dead weight and possible loads from suspensions in the panels. Do not walk on these ceilings after installation nor use the ceilings to support equipment, ducts and the like.
- Dimension walk-on ceilings for the panel dead weight, point load for foot traffic and a uniformly distributed service load of 25 kg/m2 if no other load information is available.
