Many production processes require the transfer of substantial quantities of air. The ventilation process of paper machines and wet board machines involves high amounts of energy that has to be recovered. Furthermore, the airflows involved in plant ventilations are substantial, even when compared with major conventional building projects.
High flow speeds, variations in pressure and temperature, and even the sheer size of the ducts and equipment, require high mechanical strength of the structures. The management of the energy flows is paramount for the functioning and economy of the process and therefore sets special requirements on the thermal insulations and their strength under these conditions.
