Installation: Fire insulation, air ducts

Note: In some applications such as fire insulation solutions local regulations must be
considered.

Insulation of ducts installed against partitioning structures

When the distance of duct from structure is over 30 mm,
but does not exceed insulation thickness:

1. > 30 mm < s

2. < 100 mm

3. s

4. appr. 100 mm

5. appr. 100 mm

6. PAROC Wired Mat or
    PAROC Fire Slab

7. Partitioning structure

When the distance of duct from the structure is max. 30 mm:

1. < 30 mm

2. appr. 100 mm

3. appr. 100 mm

4. Welding bolts with
    fixing plates
    > 6 pcs/m2

Insulation that partly surrounds a duct can be fastened to the partitioning structure
using a steel section support:

1. PAROC Wired Mat

2. Steel section support

3. Partitioning building structure

Support of wire net mat insulation in vertical duct

In vertical ducts, adequate vertical support prevents the wire net mat from compressing,
use steel wire and/or supporting collars fixed to the net and the structures. The distance
between the vertical supports should not exceed normal floor height (appr. 3 m).

1. PAROC Wired Mat

2. Support of insulation
    against structure

3. Collar, flange, spikes or
    corresponding support
    of insulation

4.  Distance between supporting

    points < 2700 mm
    (= three mat widths)

> Fastening a wire net mat with steel wire or clips

Insulation of round duct with stone wool pipe section

> Installation of uncoated pipe sections
