Tank wall

Choose the correct insulation density
Tank walls are often very high. Due to temperature differences between the insulation and cladding, the so-called chimney effect, where air flows upwards, occurs. Because of this, it is important to use dense enough insulation slabs to prevent air movement inside the insulation, and to minimise heat convection (see graph).

Air movement decreases when using higher density products. The right density of insulation for low temperature tanks is about 40 kg/m3, and for higher temperature tanks 60 kg/m3 or more.

Paroc has a range of stone wool insulation slabs, specially designed for tank insulation applications. Specially made tank wall slabs are available in different densities to suit different tank temperatures. For double wall constructions, blowing wool, with or without binder, represents the best solution.
