First an evaluation of the old wall and a structural design for the new wall need to be done. Then the insulation system (bonded or mechanically fixed) has to be chosen.
By insulation rendering an old wall can be enclosed to a warmer and dryer space and thus reducing or possibly completely stopping frost damage and carbonation of the old structure.
