FAQ

Add.insulation, exterior side of sawdust insul. wall

Sawdust insulation is a fairly poor thermal insulation with extremely high ignitability. An additional insulation can be added by leaving the old sawdust insulation on place. The most common way is to insulate walls at the same time than outside wall needs to be renewed, but is also possible to add insulation to inside of wall.

If you want to make the thermal performance of the external wall still more efficient, also the sawdust insulation needs to be replaced with Paroc stone wool, which insulates heat twice as well as sawdust insulation. Often this also helps get rid of the somewhat musty smell in old houses. The work procedure is best done from the outside when renewing the external cladding.

The most common way to add a supplementary insulation to an old sawdust house is to add an extra insulation layer on outside of wall. The installations of supplementary insulation shall away be done when renovating or changing the external cladding.

Remember also that the supplementary insulation for ground is easy to do at the same time.
