Log is a good and durable building material, but requires a stone wool layer in order to obtain adequate thermal economy. A correctly installed additional insulation helps eliminate draught in old log houses and save energy costs. At the same time also the fire safety of the house is significantly upgraded.
Work description: a. Strip off any external cladding, support structure and lining paperboard. Seal big gaps and cracks. b. Fix new studs by nailing, for instance 50 x 100 cc 600, at the same time aligning the wall by the studs. If required, use wedges if the wall is uneven. c. *Install slabs between the studs completely filling the space to be insulated. If the old wall is uneven, use an insulation thickness 10 - 30 mm thicker than the studs. d. *Fix the wind protection sheet by nailing. e. Fix the boards in the ventilation gap by nailing. f. Fix the external cladding to the ventilation gap boards. |
