In a few years' time, the energy performance certificate will overtake the condition inspection report as the most common document in real estate transactions. At the moment, however, the actual form of presenting the certification data is anybody's guess – a good point of comparison is perhaps to be found on refrigerator or freezer doors at household appliance dealers'.
The Directive, of course, aims at lowering energy consumption across Europe; in the EU countries over 40% of energy is used in buildings. Fortunately, improving energy efficiency is not too difficult, and soon, thanks to the new regulations, those taking good care of their homes and buildings will also be rewarded with a better certification level. |
