Thermal insulation – an excellent way of increasing energy efficiency
The energy efficiency of a building depends on a vast number of variables: what is the total window area; the amount of sunshine it receives; what is the ventilation system like? These and countless other details decide whether the building is energy efficient or not.
There is, however, one factor at work above all others: how the building is insulated. The manner of insulation bears a direct correlation to the energy bill the owner of the building will have to foot each and every month over several decades. The ever-increasing cost of energy should therefore feature heavily in all calculations concerning insulation solutions in every new building project.
While you can not move an old building to a more favourable place, improving its insulation will work wonders for its energy efficiency. Just increasing the insulation strength will enhance the energy performance several times more effectively than e.g. adding multi-frame windows. |
