Some basic rules
Packing does not improve the insulation result.
Insulators must connect fully with surrounding structures, with each other and with the surface on the warm side of the structure.
Insulators that are measured wrong cause air spaces that weaken the insulation.
Air flows can generate in cavities left in the insulation space that cool the warm surface of the building locally and increase energy loss.
