Paroc Invests 30 Million Euro in the Lithuanian Factory

A new production line for stone wool opens today at the Lithuanian factory of Paroc in Vilnius.  The 30 million euro investment in the second line of the factory will more than double the production capacity as well as increasing the number of production personnel by almost fifty percent.  In terms of production capacity, the Vilnius factory will now be the biggest stone wool production unit in the whole of Paroc Group.

Almost all of the production of the Vilnius factory is marketed and sold to the Baltic market, which has great strategic significance for Paroc.

"The capacity of the Vilnius factory was no longer sufficient for supplying the Baltic market.  In addition, growth has been forecast for the region.  As the Vilnius factory already had one production line, we wanted to increase the production capacity rather than opening a completely new factory.  Up till now, 50 percent of the factory's production has been sold in Lithuania and the rest has been exported to Estonia and Latvia. Some export has also taken place to Belarus, Kaliningrad, Ukraine and Poland", explains Peder Biese, President and CEO of Paroc Group.

Extensive Additional Recruitment

The fact that the production capacity has more than doubled means that more personnel, more storage space and more logistics are required.

"We estimate that we will need 75-80 new employees to work on the new production line of the Vilnius factory.  This means that the number of personnel employed in the factory will be approximately 230. We have also constructed 6,500 square metres of more storage space", explains Jonas Liubertas, General Director of the Lithuanian UAB Paroc.

After the completion of the new line, the factory now has two production lines with a combined production capacity of 70,000 tonnes, or approximately 2 million cubic metres per year.  An annual capacity of 20,000 trucks will be required for transporting these volumes. The factory's handy 'big pack' packaging machinery allows large batches to be combined before supplying them to customers.

Other stone wool manufacturing units are located in Hällekis and Hässleholm in Sweden; in Parainen, Lappeenranta and Oulu in Finland; and in Trzemeszno in Poland.
