The European Union REACH Regulation
The REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restrictions of Chemicals) entered into force on the 1 June, 2007. As a consequence, companies using substances, preparations (chemicals) and articles need to take actions to secure their future supply and use of these.
Companies manufacturing and importing substances on their own or as part of preparations, or even articles in certain cases, into the European Union and the European Economic Area, will have to register these substances at the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) if not specifically exempted from the REACH registration. If a substance has not been pre-registered and registered accordingly by predefined deadlines, the production or import will not be allowed.
As a European Union Regulation, REACH is applied directly in all member states including European Economic Area -countries.
