Ecofys Report: Buildings waste 270 billion euro a year across Europe

Europe could save up to 270 billion EURO a year at current energy prices. This is the conclusion of a new report carried out on behalf of EURIMA by Ecofys, Europe's leading energy consultancy.

With 40% of Europe's energy used in buildings, everyone across Europe needs to consider how to save this energy. With Europe currently using the equivalent of more than 6 million barrels of oil per day to heat its homes and offices, these savings are not surprising. What is surprising is that simple measures such as roof and wall insulation could cut this energy use by the equivalent of 3.3 million barrels of oil a day.

Bob the Builder™, Europe's leading preschool cartoon character, visited Luxembourg today to launch a report on cost savings from energy efficiency in buildings and to encourage European leaders to take a can-do attitude to energy efficiency in buildings.
