Paroc Group's Season's Greetings to UNICEF and WWF
As in previous years, Paroc Group has nominated UNICEF as the beneficiary of this year's charitable activities. Paroc Group sponsors the Girl's education campaign, through which UNICEF aims to promote the literacy skills of children.

In line with the UN's objectives, aid is targeted at promoting the schooling of Nepalese girls. In order to be able to reach the set objectives, UNICEF collaborates with local authorities, decision-makers and other national organisations.

With their donations to charitable organisations Paroc Group wishes to emphasise the importance of consideration to people and nature. Donating to charity represents one of the means by which Paroc Group applies its corporate social responsibility.

In addition to making donations to UNICEF, Paroc Group's Christmas cards sponsor the activities of WWF and the Group also supports the cause of the organisation in accordance with the established cooperation agreement. The funds raised as a result of the agreement between Paroc Group and WWF in Finland are used for expanding WWF's activities in the sphere of increasing environmental awareness and slowing down climate change.

Paroc Group has targeted its charitable activities at the international nature conservation organisation WWF and at the UN's children's fund UNICEF in order to be able to make a few larger donations instead of several smaller ones. In addition to the Group's donations, Paroc's local units sponsor their own communities through charitable activities.

UNICEF's literacy campaign aims to promote the literacy levels of children. The schooling of girls in particular is in many ways restricted in third world countries. In addition to practical obstacles, such as insufficient facilities and educational material, problems are down to social structures and demanding living conditions.

WWF's environmental awareness programme covers the international Naturewatch Baltic network in Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad. Naturewatch is WWF's cheerful environmental awareness programme for schools, promoting active participation and practical good. The tasks included in the programme encourage pupils of different ages to observe and explore their immediate natural environment.

WWF's climate change programme aims to slow down the effects of global warming. The programme is based on the Kyoto protocol and it aims to produce sustainable solutions, such as increasing energy efficiency and promoting the use of renewable sources of energy. The key aspects of reducing emissions include solutions relating to energy production, housing and traffic.
